New Primitivism aims to put forward an architecture that thrives on slowness and recalls archaic qualities of buildings and space. This is an architecture that highlights the sensorial, the physical and the bodily.     
    The museum is built within and around eight totems that aim to accentuate the haptic and static character of architecture as opposed to the immaterial and mostly visual character of time-based media. The totems provide context and gravitas to the experience of time-based art; represent the institution’s position and anchor the museum to place.
